Damian R. Lara has lived in Bernalillo County for over a decade. He received a B.A. in political science and in philosophy from Brown University in 2001 and a J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2007. And, he is a New Mexico State Certified Appraiser. He was appointed as Bernalillo County Deputy Assessor in 2013. Prior to that, Mr. Lara practiced as a Staff Attorney II, at the New Mexico Legislative Council Service. He served as the lead staff for the Revenue Stabilization and Tax Policy Committee. Mr. Lara specialized in tax legislation, particularly the Property Tax Code. Mr. Lara was recently elected Vice-Chair of the Assessor’s Affiliate of the New Mexico Association of Counties by his colleagues for the 2015-2016 term.
