Each registered attendee should bring a laptop to connect to wireless Internet
Student Experience Level with R: None Assumed

Course Goal: An Introduction to Using R in the Mass Appraisal Field

  • Setting-Up R 
  • Starting R; Working Directories; Workspaces
  • The Basics of R: Operators; Functions; Data Frames; Data I/O; Plots
  • Ratio Studies in R: Important Functions and Methods
  • Modeling in R: Model-Building; Model Output; Model Application

Each section will begin with a powerpoint presentation on R material followed by a time of hands-on learning. The hands-on portion of the workshop willrevolve around analyzing a sample data file. Students will be given example R scripts to run with the sample data file. Students will also be given exercises to do at the end of each section.
