As an architect I learned” Form follows function” as a cartographer “A line has direction”. From college to work place the lines have “defined” me. Lines are the integral part of both professions. In 1987 when I joined the Kane County mapping department it all started with paper pencil. And then moved to Intergraph’s graphic workstation to Micro station to ARC GIS, an evolution still in process. In a day’s work as CAD- COORDINATOR I lead my CAD TEAM through updating and editing the Data Base with, Subdivisions. Annexation, Division, Court Cases Realignment , Research and most importantly maintaining correct data for 911 emergency response time. understanding cadastral evolution is important for all GIS professionals. because maps are the foundation of GIS. work.
