Mike retired from the City of Bloomington Assessor’s Office, Bloomington Illinois after forty-five years. He served as the elected official from 1980-2013. As assessor he designed and implemented an in-house CAMA system using a variety “off the shelf”, or OTS software. Later GIS integration was added to the CAMA application. In addition to his work as assessor Mr. Ireland is an senior instructor for IAAO, served on the IAAO Executive Board, chaired the Education Committee, and contributed authorship and review to textbooks on appraisal and mass appraisal for IAAO, the Appraisal Institute. Mike was a member of the taskforce to re-write Standard 6 of USPAP in 1991. Recently IAAO started the process of developing a Body of Knowledge document on Assessment, Appraisal, and Mapping/GIS, Mr. Ireland is a member of the group working on the Body of Knowledge. In 2012-13 as a subject matter expert, (SME) he contributed to developing appraisal guidelines for the Appraisal Practice Board, of The Appraisal Foundation on Identifying Comparables for Mass Appraisal.
